Slowly, Chidinma Ekile, the 2010 MTN Project Fame West Africa winner is slipping into oblivion and it is a major cause for concern.
Though Ms. Kedike burst onto the scene with so much promise six years ago, her career, for a myriad of reasons, hasn’t taken off in full flight.
Since the release of her critically acclaimed self-titled debut album under Capital Hill four years ago, the singer has sought to take a new direction with her career by refusing to renew her contract after its expiration.
But what’s the way forward for the petite singer?
Since the announcement of Chidinma’s departure from Capital Hill in March, she is yet to make any significant moves, whether by pitching tent with a new label or going the route of some of her peers by floating an independent imprint.
New songs from the singer have also been few and far between, with her last significant work being as a featured guest on Flavour‘s song, ‘Mama’ in March.
Has the petite 25-year-old singer run into crossroads with her music career, a laMo’cheddah before her, or is she just biding her time?
While it might be a little too early to dismiss Chidinma as a force in the Nigerian music scene, she must put into cognizance that staying relevant in pop culture is a very fickle thing, as people are more focused on what’s buzzing.
Who can tell what she is up to…..
